PostSubject: Joey and Mary   Sat Mar 28, 2009 12:41 pm

One of these days, I will be posting my story on here... until then, I delight in posting others. I just received an email from friends in Canada (see, Katy? I have friends everywhere). This family has six children. The oldest two, Mary and Elisabeth, are my age and were both single. Last March, Elisabeth was engaged to a young man from California, but the engagement broke in October, two months before their wedding. The day that engagement broke, another relationship bloomed. I will try to give as much as I know... it is such a cute story.

The Newmans are a missionary family in Canada. Joe and Mitzi (mom and dad) are college friends of my aunt and uncle. At any rate, about three years ago, the family traveled to one of the provinces in Canada... kris, help me out here, it is eight hours away from Saskatchewan. While there, Mary met a young man named Joe. She really thought nothing of it. Went home and lived happily ever after. But Joe apparently began praying about her from day one. Last year, at some point, they touched base again. Joe realized his opportunity and seized it (the same day Elisabeth's crumpled to the ground). I couldn't tell you the exact date, but I know they have been courting for at least six months. And now, they are engaged!

Here is the engagement story from Mary's email.

Quote:
He lives eight hours away and I wasn't expecting him to visit again until he got time off work on Easter, but he surprised me and came early to propose! I didn't even know he was in town (well, to be perfectly honest, I was really suspicious because of some various things that had happened Saturday, but anyway :0)), and then on Sunday morning on the way to church as we were driving down Honeymoon road (that's the actual name of the road that we live by) there were signs on the side of the road that said "Mary will you marry me?" Of course he was there and asked me to marry him and I said yes!! He gave me the most gorgeous ring ever!! He is the sweetest guy in the world and I am so glad that God brought him into my life!!

I have asked Mary for more of the love story. The bits and pieces I have are from Elisabeth. Once I get more, I will let you know. I do know that Joey is a sweetheart. He is chivalrous to the max. When he first started courting her, he called her "Miss Mary" how cute is that!? Love Anyway, I wanted to share. No date for the wedding, but please pray for Elisabeth. The timing is kinda yucky because she was engaged March 22 of last year and the rings are eerily similar. I am sure that is hard for Elisabeth, but I know she is happy.

Elisabeth's engagement ring.

Mary's.

(It kinda freaks me out because so much can happen in just a year *coughcoughallicough* I won't be able to make it  I have my sister's graduation. Sad Sad Sad I just couldn't believe it was so soon! They are so cute though, I will have to post one of their official engagement pictures.

Oh I hate long engagements. Very Happy (though I do realize that sometimes you have to do them)

I don't know... can you? Every other attempt of yours at Mr Robinson have gone over like lead balloons. I don't think you are capable of finding someone I would be comfortable dating by July. Sorry, dear. But by all means, give it a shot Rolling Eyes I'll humor you.

O_O You have one, because I love the Australian and New Zealand accents and I would totally move to either place. I'm an adventurer, that's for sure.

No, Heidi, I don't think your brother and I will work Wink I would say older up to 10 years-ish. Though I would take a younger guy (about 2 years, 3 max) if he were mature. That's at least the age I've always 'worked' within. So... 20-30, I guess. Why?
