Hey, who has some good brain teasers/riddles/etc? Here's one we used in Critical Thinking lab today. See if you can figure it out:

Singles' Bar
A woman goes into a club where all married men lie and all single men tell the truth. She is approached by 3 men. She asks the first man, "Are you married?" But the music is so loud, she cannot hear his answer. So the second guy leans over and says to her, "The first guy said he is married. But really, he is single." Then the third guy says, "The second guy is single." Determine the marital status of each of the 3 men.

How did you figure out the answer? (I'm curious, because there are actually multiple ways to the solution. Razz

The first guy is single. Why? I'm not sure. Razz

The second guy is married, because he lied about the first guy saying he was married.
The third guy is married, because he lied about the second guy being single.

Is that right? Maybe not. Now I'm just confused. duh

Common sense would say all three men are single, because there'd be no reason for a married man to be in a bar Razz

, but I know that's not right.

The 2nd guy is lying, so he's married. If the 1st guy was single, he'd have said so and not lied about it.
That automatically makes the 3rd guy a liar for saying the 2nd guy is single, so he's married too.
The 1st guy is trickier to figure out since we didn't actually hear what he said. My gut feeling is that he's single.

OK, this is an old one I got from my grandma...

12 pares were hanging high. 12 knights came riding by. Each took a pare, but left 11 hanging there. How can this be?
