Regardless of whether you go to a class and get the spiritual imput or not, the very stretches are actually linked to spiritual stuff, so it's there regardless of if you want it to be.
There are plenty of other stretches and things to do, that aren't linked to eastern spirituality (=kingdom of darkness, not Kingdom of God) |
I agree! | very interesting...I haven't actually done any yoga, so, I didn't know that the stretches themselves were linked to spiritual things. One of my classes on campus did yoga during one of the class sessions, and I skipped it...I don't want to mess with the spiritual side. However, like I said above, I'd been OK with it from a physical stretches standpoint...but I didn't realize that even the physical aspects were spiritually connected.
I suppose one factor in this is why get so close? Like, _maybe_ you can do it without spiritual implications, but maybe not... So in light of all the exercise programs that exist, why try this one? _________________ ...they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so. That's pretty much what I was trying to say! _________________ *Larissa*

| I did some yoga in high school - not "yoga classes" at a yoga studio, but through ballet. I also did pilates and like that a lot more. I know the poses in yoga are connected to spiritual stuff (poses of worship? Sorry, my memory is really hazy). But I guess worship is first and foremost your heart as opposed to your lips? If I worship something with my lips but fail to acknowledge it in my heart, is that true worship? I dunno, just thinking out loud. Alyce, I'm assuming this is in relation to pregnancy yoga or something like that? |

| I was actually just watching a news report on kids doing it as a part of their treatment for various problems (cancer treatment, ADHD) to help them relax and focus on something other than their issues and that they've found it's helped them to feel better, etc. I was just wondering what everyone else thought about it. I'm along the same lines as Riss, I think. I'd rather just do pilates. _________________ Happy mummy!

Don't take this in a bad way (because I don't mean it in that way at all), but out of everyone on here, I didn't think you'd be most likely to agree with me! _________________ *Larissa*
