So we're talking about yoga... what about acupuncture? Any thoughts?

Hmmm, that's another tricky one. I think, out of the two, I would feel more hesitant about yoga than acupuncture. I haven't looked into both enough to give a decently reasoned argument for/against them, so apologies for the vagueness. However, I feel that yoga is part of a spiritual regime if it's done properly (I'm still undecided about the stretches themselves, but I would avoid a proper class). Acupuncture, on the other hand, can have medical benefits and I get the feeling it is based more on ancient knowledge as opposed to ancient religion. Maybe I'm wrong there...? I wouldn't rush to get it done, but if I had to I may do. Neutral

pale Afraid affraid I would never do acupuncture. That's just. *shudder* I'd think it'd hurt. Just seeing pictures of people with all those needles sticking out of them gives me the shivers. I'd be afraid they'd put one in wrong and it'd hurt or it'd leave scars or something.

Acupuncture is the procedure of inserting and manipulating filiform needles into various points on the body to relieve pain or for therapeutic purposes.

In other words, they stick needles in all over your body to RELAX YOU!!! Jawdrop That wouldn't relax me, I tell you.

I could be wrong, but I don't think it's a religious practice, so I don't think there's anything wrong with it. I've heard it really does work...but I wouldn't like needles being poked into me lol! Apparently it doesn't hurt because they're so thin...

Yeah I have had acupuncture. Its actually not that bad!

My feet swelled up quite a bit when I was preggers... cos it was suuuuch a hot summer and yeah, I think I was probably doing a bit much! So yeah I got a few needles stuck into me to help with that and to help induce the baby, and to keep him the right way around.

THe first lot was to get Archie anterior (his feet/stomach towards my back) and honestly, within half an hour, he flipped over. It was a massive flip and he stayed that way 'til he came out. And the stuff to induce... well I got it on the Monday afternoon and that night (well, early Tues morning) he started his 'journey'. So yeah. I think I'd go that route again personally.

It is kinda weird... the needles go in a couple of inches - maybe three or so... and to make it even more effective, she gave them a little twist and yeoowww! It wasn't too bad but I'm pretty sure most people would cry lol. I don't seem to feel pain - but then again I spent a good portion of my childhood threading my fingers with sewing pins, rubbing my hands raw on gymnastic bars, walking barefoot through the forest... etc. Needles stuck in my hands, back, legs and feet are no big deal!!

Wow, I had no idea they were so effective for something like that. Shocked I've only heard that they relieve pain! I think I probably would give it a go if I was recommended it by a doctor and needed it. I'm not afraid of needles so I reckon I could cope ok.

I don't mind needles, as long as they're in other people and not in me. Laughing

I have heard acupuncture has some evidence for pain relief. But don't know much about it all really.

Needles? That's strange.....

We used to go to a very good chiropractor (we quit because we can't afford it, not because we don't like him anymore) who also did acupuncture. He worked with pressure points. I never saw nor heard anything about needles! That sounds scary!

um i dont know if any of you have read this book. i forget what its called, but its a true story about this girl whos a devil worshipper, and shes like major into it, and in this book. (my brother read it) and its about spirits and stuff right? so apparently accupuncture is one way for bad spirits to enter you. now i know some good Christians i think do this, but ya... soemthing to think about
