This is real quick and very late Thursday here in my end of the U.S. but it's something God dropped in my heart..just an important reminder.

I found this on Crosswalk.com under their devotionals-Bayless Conley is the author and here are just my notes from it

"And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased" Hebrews 13:16

This verse and the devo was about the whole reason we're blessed..is so that we can bless others!! Sometimes I get so caught up with the fact that I'm blessed (with this new job, good friends ect)..that I forget the whole reason is so that I can pass His blessings off to others..especially my non-believing friends. The more I'm blessed, the more I can shine for Him.

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything James 1:2-4

I'm leaving today for the weekend, so this will be a short one. Smile

This is a song by Steve Fry, called All of Me and the last week or so I've really been convicted by the words... may we all give everything to God!

There was a time when I thought I'd given You up
everything was clearly black and white,
but the more, I discover You, I discover in me,
subtle shades of grey inside.
See in me, a small resentment,
that slowly pollutes my life.

All of me, all of me, take and break me till the world will see, You in me, You in me, consume me now till You have all of me

There was a moment when,
I would call You my friend,
and the word just float so easily,
but the more, I discover You
I don't think that I knew
what a friendship with You really means.
But slowly I find, the knowledge of the holy
and laying hold of You... I cry

All of me, all of me, take and break me, till the world will see, You in me, You in me, consume me now till you have all of me

There in your arms I fall, You have given me all

Psalm 91:1-2; 14-15
Quote:
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

2 I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust."

...

14 "Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.

Biblegateway.com has a "Verse of the Day" and today's was Psalm 91:1. The verse caught my eye and lead to reading the entire chapter. These four verses really stuck out. Often times when we are going through something tough and are really struggling with life, we forget that God will always rescue us. He is our shelter and our strong tower---if we'll let him be. Being independent can be a great thing, but we always need to be dependent on Him. If we try on our own we will fail. But, when we do, he's there to pick us up, dust us off, and help us go the rest of the way...even if it means redirecting our entire lives. We just have to be willing to go in whatever direction he leads. If any of you are struggling with something or feel troubled, you only need to call upon Him.

Proverbs 18:10
Quote:
10The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous run to it, and are safe.

I guess everyone was really busy this week!

Yesterday I started the 90-day devotional by Rebecca St. James, "Pure". Today she mentioned that God-worth is so much more important than self-worth. Like Rebecca, I am a perfectionist. This thought from the book really stuck out to me.

Quote:
When you are a perfectionist, you tend to either push yourself all the time to be better or to go into failure mode and give up, believing that you'll never succeed.

Rebecca then mentions that she had a tendency to live with the feeling that God was always disappointed that she wasn't good enough. I know that I struggle with this constantly and a few of you probably do, as well. But, the Bible repeatedly combats this type of thinking. It continually assures us that we matter to God and he loves us unconditionally.

Matthew 10:29-31
Quote:
29 Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. 30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

Romans 5:6-8 (this is the way it's paraphrased in The Message...but keep in mind that it is only a paraphrase, not a direct translation. I just really liked the way it got the point across so well.)
Quote:
Christ arrives right on time to make this happen. He didn't, and doesn't, wait for us to get ready. He presented himself for this sacrificial death when we were far too weak and rebellious to do anything to get ourselves ready. And even if we hadn't been so weak, we wouldn't have known what to do anyway. We can understand someone dying for a person worth dying for, and we can understand how someone good and noble could inspire us to selfless sacrifice. But God put his love on the line for us by offering his Son in sacrificial death while we were of no use whatever to him.

PostSubject: Re: June devotionals   Mon Jun 29, 2009 10:29 am

The past two days for me have been incredible. I was trying to think of a verse to share, and one that I learnt with the kids in Children's Church popped into my mind:

Psalm 100:5
The LORD is good, His love and faithfulness will last forever

I like that this verse says God's character qualities will last FOREVER. Timing has been an important part of my past two days. Sunday morning during worship at church, I told Him that He had permission to break me. Once more, I handed over my life, and said "go for it. Break me, because I'm not much use to You in my current state. Mould me in Your image, for Your plan."
Well, less than 8 hours later, there I was... broken by Him. Bought once more to the place in front of the cross, knowing my weaknesses and imperfections, but accepted despite these. God's love was evident, and He was faithful to not leave me broken.

A friend of mine has been really struggling, and I've been there for the late night messages, tears, and despair. Over and over I prayed for God to come and break through. And, not surprising, He has. He was faithful to her in not leaving her in the place of brokeness and wandering. His love has once more shone thru.

I'll finish up by posting the whole Psalm... it pretty much says what I have no words to say

Psalm 100
A psalm. For giving thanks.

1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
2 Worship the LORD with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.

3 Know that the LORD is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.

5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.
